Local Students Elected To Sul Ross College Posts
Freddy Davis a mathematics major at Sul Ross State College was elected sophomore class vice president and is a transfer from the University of Houston. He also plays halfback for the Lobo football team and hails from Alpine. Gladys Cowell chosen sophomore class secretary treasurer majors in chemistry and is active in Zeta Tau Zeta. Pete Valenzuela Alpine High grad elected freshman Student Council representative and is a pre med student at Sul Ross. Dr and Mrs Shortt visit noted with sisters Mrs Staggs and Mrs Whitmer returning home to Arlington and Manassas after two weeks. First national presidential nominating convention in the U S was held in Baltimore in 1831. Coodies was a nickname for Federalist Party War of 1812 supporters in New York.
