Marathon social and scout notes highlight local events
The Marathon Band Boosters sponsored a Mexican supper that funded two band uniforms. A Girl Scout Troop formed and met October 5 at the church house, with 13 girls active and two patrols led by Lea der Anita Baeza and Betty Collier. Goat roping drew crowds at Dade Arena with ropers from Fort Davis, Sul Ross, and Sanderson. Local boy Alex Martin gains regional attention after a Dallas Morning News writeup. Marathon plans a potential homecoming November 20.
