Observatory Staff Boost Planned at McDonald Observatory
Fort Davis reports that staff at McDonald Observatory will be increased soon. Dr. F. E. Roach returns from six weeks away announcing Dr. T. Elvey of Ferres Observatory will join for a year with a monthly salary of 30 and oversee the new work. They will reside in the completing new house. E Dorris aged 14 died, his father Bill Dorris and family in Alpine since 1921. The elder Dorris, born September 2, 1861 in Tennessee, worked as quarryman near the Southern Pacific rock crusher west of town. He married Sarah Jane Canton, leaving seven children, four surviving.
