Mrs Speer Attends State Teachers Convention in Mineral Wells

Mrs J B Speer president of the local classroom teachers chapter attended the Texas Classroom Teacher's Association convention in Mineral Wells last Friday and Saturday. Reports showed many associations sought the 55 apportionment though some felt it fell short of funding the state salary schedule. The event featured a morning speaker, a panel and a six-group workshop, with remarks on education duties and debt of gratitude to educators. A closing dinner hosted by Leonard Brothers of Fort Worth highlighted discussions on preserving teacher salary gains amid ongoing opposition. General Lee was quoted as calling Jackson a stone wall during Civil War reminiscences as the meeting wrapped.
