Messrs O A Koehl and T Ad Christi visited Alpine with interest in future educational and mining opportunities. They spoke of plans to price investments and locate ventures in the area, while Mr Beard toured Marfa for a few days. The Avalanche notes the optimistic outlook for growth and development.
Judge Howell Johnson and W A Hadden, retained by the Pecos County Commissioners Court, secured an injunction from Reeves County District Court prohibiting Brewster County tax collection in the disputed territory. No county officers have been served yet. Avalanche will publish a statement once served.
Representative Jones states that whether he runs again depends entirely on the wishes of the district. He notes he was unanimously elected previously and has letters from friends urging him to continue, but campaigns are costly and disruptive. If his friends want him, he will run, focusing on his past record and opposing extravagant promises, without backing by any clique. J T McCalahan of Spruce Drug in Marathon was among Alpine visitors, hobnobbing with local druggists.
About 78 surveyors camp above town with 10 to 12 tents and two houses rented, crowds filling Chambers and Yarbrow Hotels. Numerous visitors from Alpine, Marfa, El Paso, San Antonio, and beyond. cattle shipments, ranch work, dances, hunts, and illness notes fill a lively Marathon scene.
The last meeting was one of the most successful in months with a banner attendance of 48. A novel feature counted distance in points based on attendance and participation. Miss Clarice Cotter drove the winning car in a close race, and the group voted to move the meeting time from 4:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Please take notice.

Missouri visitors Alpine and Brewster toured West Texas, slight plans to settle in Alpine for the winter. They own land near Brewster, rode Marathon to Metropolis, spoke of Alpine growth and ample space as they considered moving south. A pleasant call was left as they departed Tuesday for Tucson to visit a sick daughter in Las Vegas.
