Dr A D Melvin head of the bureau of animal industry returned from South America where he studied stock raising in Argentina Uruguay and Brazil He visited Rosario Palermo and other large ranches and noted Argentina and Uruguay as major beef and mutton exporters to Britain while Brazil built a new municipal abattoir in Sao Paulo Rio de Janeiro He forecast potential meat output growth if current prices hold and cited high per live weight prices and valuable hide and offal returns.
