Disabled Veterans To Get More Pay Under New Law
AUSTIN Oct. 28 Veterans of World Wars I and II and the Spanish American War will receive higher disability and dependency payments under a bill signed by President Truman. The Veterans Administration estimates 2 024 000 veterans will be affected. WWI veterans with service connected disabilities will receive full compensation instead of 47 percent. The bill expands payment durations for arrested tuberculosis cases and creates a new disability schedule of 150 dollars monthly for total disability and 15 dollars for 10 percent. Monthly allowances to widows with children are increased, and veterans with 50 percent or more disability will get additional dependents payments.
