Texas Plans Resurvey of 3 Million Acre Capitol Grant
The state agreed to pay $1000 for field notes and plot books of the 3,000,000 acre land grant given for the Austin Capitol. Arch C Wiley surveyed in 1881, and Governor Colquitt and Attorney General Looney arranged the transfer. Houston to El Paso area lands, Norton and Rangers accompanied surveys as crews prepared a new resurvey beginning soon. The Capitol at Austin is a granite building begun in 1882 and completed in 1886, with 600 by 287 feet footprint and 315 feet height, built from Burnet County granite.

The maid apologizes and asks to switch seats, noting the current posture is tiring. The exchange reflects social expectations and etiquette concerns among African Americans in the period.
