Catalytic cracking capacity to exceed demand by midcentury
The United States will have excess catalytic cracking capacity as motor vehicle production grows. Daily throughput rises to 42 million gallons when service expands to 34 plants, with 96 new refineries by 1955. Gasoline use should rise, yet lighter cars and efficient engines will curb consumption. Bourbon whiskey derives its name from Bourbon County Kentucky where it was once mainly produced.
