Monday's chamber of commerce luncheon drew about 25 attendees. President J E Wright led a discussion on the Old Settlers and Cowboys Roundup, which was moved to the next meeting due to absent committee members. The group endorsed Brewster County Commissioners contract for a block map system and related improvements.
Rea kan County May 19 Big Lake High School graduates hear H J Cottle biology head at Sul Rows deliver the commencement address stressing acquaintanceship friendship sportsmanship and scholarship. Craver Der superintendent presided and introduced the speaker. Cottle was accompanied by Mrs Cottle Georgia Holland and Travie Dean. the party returned Friday morning.
The Holland Coffee Shop completed a new counter and chairs with decorative tile to enhance its interior likeness. New pastry and dish cases were installed as part of the update. The West Texas Chamber of Commerce president voiced strong support at a luncheon with Brewster County Chamber of Commerce backing. The next chamber meeting on Monday May 28 will discuss Summer School and Tourists and set committees for the annual Roundup with Hi W Morelock and J H Head as principal speakers.
The John Perkins residence on Avenue B will be remodeled into three three room apartments at an estimated cost of $2000, with Evi J Wood holding the contract. Wood also plans to remodel Mrs Mollie Chaffin’s cottage on Avenue A west of the city school for about $2000.
The firm of Hord and Thain composed of Alonzo Hord and C. E. Thain has been dissolved. The partners claim all property and debts belong to the firm and acknowledge E Thain and Hord. Miss Lorena Warner reports returning to Floresville for the summer.
The Elite Beauty Shoppe will open next Monday the 24th over the office. Miss Thelma O Rourke and Mrs Harry Harrison will run the shop. New equipment is installed and first class work is guaranteed. Patrons are invited from Alpine and nearby areas. Mrs George Bless props Miss Stather Elliott and Miss Fay Hamilton of the college faculty will wave Saturday for Austin and Nac.
Cogdoches Mise slot travels home with her mother Mrs. ReC. Billott and sister Mise Mildred Sttott for a year in Alpine. They will occupy one of the Hancock cottages. Returning from Nacogdoches with Mise Hamilton will be her father and mother and reside in the Be.
