Big Bend Park Seen as Unique Complete Biological Unit
A National Park Service report by Dr. W B McDougall argues Big Bend in Texas would be the sole U S national park with a complete biological unit. It notes protection for fauna including the peccary couch rock squirrel and three deer species, and calls for a state game refuge to halt hunting until park establishment. Mountain lions also occur, with broad ranges, but the park would offer greater predator protection than others.
