Mr. Allen Palmer observed his 76th birthday last Sunday with a dinner attended by friends. He noted his Civil War comrade Mr. Pool and Mrs. Pool of Marfa were unable to attend due to illness. Palmer also renewed his Avalanche subscription, aging his birthday date to May 6.
The Study Club gathering at Mrs Forest Robison’s residence included a business session and reports from delegates. Mrs Martin shared notes on her Midland trip while lessons covered Women’s Progress, women in business and politics, and legal and political states of women in the state.
The Bridge Club met with Mrs. EK McCool on Tuesday afternoon May 2. Guests enjoyed a salad course as Miss Alice Woods and Miss Day Baker assisted. meeting adjourned at five to attend the college May Fete. Present were Mesdames Anderson Burgess Burke Beatty Gillett Kennedy McCool McIntyre Nixon C M Wilson Jim Wilson Watson Wood Newell Mrs Geo Bown and Mrs Shirley Scales.
Mr A A Newell Worshipful Master of the Alpine lodge and fellow brethren journeyed to Fort Davis on Monday evening to assist in conferring the Master’s degree upon a candidate before the Davis lodge. Those who accompanied Mr Newell were Dr B F Berkeley A B Sandifer G W Raines C W Livingston Stanley Casner Fritz Weyerts Matt Smith Jeff Wade Roy Spence G K Lange Otis French and KR W Coffee.

Guests were Mesdames John Young Jr Jim Wilson and H G Watson. The hostess served ice cream and cake. The next meeting will be with Mrs H L Hord.
