Anell May Be Tried Again In Texas Case
San Angelo dispatch reports Harry Spanell a former Baylor University music professor acquitted in Alpine for a second trial on the Butler murder charge. Malcolm C Butler an army officer was shot to death July 20 1916. Spanell convicted previously and sentenced to five years but sentence appealed. A habeas corpus bid may seek Spanell's release on double jeopardy grounds if change of venue to Brownwood grants appeal. Spanell has worked in a Pennsylvania iron factory since last trial.
