Alpine area sees gas franchise renewal and town notices
The 1940 natural gas franchise for D W Francis of Christoval and C H Lockhart of Pecos was renewed by Alpine in an ordinance last week for 30 years from signing. The pipeline must be completed within 15 months. Vogte property on North Fifth Street and East Avenue E is sold to M N Bobo of Cory Courts. includes the old brick residence opposite the Masonic building and other nearby buildings. The Alpine High School band won first division at the state contest in Kermit under John Carrico. Sammie Jo Burleson and Lord Joyce won first and second in twirling. T A Beard and F J McCollum joined the Mexican Border Trails Association at a Del Rio meeting. Alpine attendees included J C Epperson and James W Pate. Texas highway publicity planned for Highway 90. Alpine Future Farmer teams placed first in poultry judging and second in livestock judging at Texas Tech. Poultry team: Buck Webb, Juan Portillo, Jim Spann. Livestock team: Lynn Uranga, Finest Teague, Mickie Smith. Mrs Meriwether Burke of Orange visiting her daughter and relatives.
