New Officers Elected For Delta Kappa Gamma
Beta Iota Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society held a March meeting at Mrs. W. H. Savage home electing officers for the coming year Mrs Savage president LaMarylis Oliver vice president Mrs Charles Wade recording secretary and Mrs E E Farley corresponding secretary A panel on recre ational hobbies highlighted the gathering with exhibits of oil paintings chine painting crocheted rugs and teenage recreation tools Panelists included Miss Ruth Livingston and Mmes Charles Bowman G W Archer S P Dismukes Anne Livingston all of Marfa Dainty refreshments followed along with numerous members and guests from Sanderson Mines A H Zuberbueler and J B Edmondson attended as guests.

Sul Ross State College presented Look Homeward Angel by Ketti Frings based on Thomas Wolfe's novel. Eugene Laurent directed with strong casting led by Phil Seymour as Eugene Gant and Ken Boyd as Ben Gant, while attorney Frank Ray recounted Wolfe connections and a forthcoming Scribner biography by Turnbull.

Woman's Club hears Rev Van Auken on school prayer ruling
Rev William Van Auken of the Ft Davis Presbyterian Church spoke to the Woman's Club of Alpine on the Supreme Court decision on school prayers. He cited New York Maryland and Pennsylvania cases, discussed pros and cons from church leaders, and sparked thoughtful club comment. The meeting at the Presbyterian hospitality room featured floral arrangements and hostesses Miss Laurene Lighthouse Hugh White and L Forchheimer.

Scholarship To Teresa Molinar Awarded For Sul Ross
Teresa Molinar daughter of Mrs. Carolina Molinar, a senior at Alpine High, earned the Davis Mountain Federation scholarship to Sul Ross for September 1964 after a four year high school record and high scholastic average. The selection followed records review and counsel with Mrs. Harlan Ford. Attending the Western District Convention in Odessa were Mrs. Doyle Vincent, Mrs. F. Foley, and Mrs. L. Forchheimer, with Forchheimer winning second in art and a tea held in a $500,000 home.

W. J. Newell Speaks At Local DAR Meet
W J Newell spoke at the Big Bend Chapter DAR meeting in Alpine on Saturday March 21 focusing on the Good Neighbor policy and Texas relations with foreign countries especially Mexico. Mrs Mac Ament reported on a memorial tea for Mrs L C Brite held in Marfa with attendees and a graveside service at Marfa Cemetery led by Mrs King Terry Jr. Local members and guests enjoyed an Easter themed tea with jonquils and yellow baskets.
