Soil Plan Completed for Big Bend District
The Big Bend Soil and Water Conservation District completed a 55 page Program and Plan in cooperation with O L Kay of the Soil Conservation Service and the district board. Copies were mailed to cooperators. booklets available at Sul Ross State College Alpine library and public offices for reading. price two dollars per copy. Board members listed include C F Cox secretary George Mills James W Pate William J Sohl and Caven B Woodward. A new Memorandum of Understanding with the USDA was signed and sent to Washington for approval by Secretary Orville Freeman.

Roach Wins Distinguished Service Award at Humble Convention
Jack H. Roach an Enco dealer at 709 East Holland Alpine received Humble Oil and Refining Company’s Distinguished Service Award at a Austin convention for outstanding achievements in business civic and community affairs. The ceremony was led by PW Edge Jr of Dallas as part of three Austin conventions attended by over 2000 managers and guests. Roach has served Humble since 1964 and is active in Alpine civic groups and booster clubs.
