Government Experts Advise Feeding of Range Cattle
West and South range cattle should receive 2 to 4.5 pounds of cottonseed cake per head daily for five to six weeks to keep cows thrifty through winter. One hundred pounds of cake costs about 2.55 dollars and can prevent losses of thin cows worth 25 to 60 dollars each. Round up thin cows now and provide supplementary feeds to avoid heavy losses and ensure strong calves and adequate milk once grass returns.
