Liberalized Veterans Insurance Act boosts reinstatement terms
President Truman signed a measure liberalizing the National Service Life Insurance Act for about 10 million World War II veterans whose term policies lapsed. The Veterans Administration said the administrator may set reinstatement rules, allowing lapseed NSL term policies to be reinstated by paying two monthly premiums if health is as good as at lapse. The new provisions run until August 1, 1947, replacing an earlier February 1 deadline and favoring a health-based reinstatement approach.
