Marathon PTA Meets School Census Plans and TB X rays
The Marathon PTA held its March 14 meeting at the school house with Mr. M. L. Causey presiding. Prayers by Mrs. Preston Wyatt and music by Mrs George Hargus and Barbara Wyatt framed a program led by Pat McKinney. A census committee was formed and six delegates chosen for the Monahans conference on April 6-7. Superintendent Karl Bland announced free TB X rays to be conducted in Alpine April 12-16 for anyone 15 and older. The senior class scheduled a March 26 dance with local music and refreshments followed.

Community Gathering At Stuart Farm Birthday Celebration
Mr and Mrs Raymond Stuart hosted friends from Johnson farm for a family birthday party for Tommy Jane marked by games gifts and ice cream cake and drinks. Relatives from Alamosa Colorado visited Yarbro Meeks Stegall and Jones households with plans to travel to Uvalde Utopia and San Antonio before returning home. Marathon Study club met March 2 1949 at Mrs Roy Stillwell home with a Texas program and a tea reception.
