After the K O M and O railroad proposal spurred growth in Alpine six men led by A Brown D B Sloornbeek J K Gillett H L Kokeraot W A McIntyre and KL Nevill sought permission from the currency comptroller to organize the First National Bank of Alpine to serve merchants with deposits checks and trade collections. They plan a fire and burglar proof stone building and will divide stock among Alpine business people.
A 1904 letter from J Hellen A G P A confirms Alpine will sell round trip summer tickets at one and one third fare with return limit to October, starting June 1, matching Marfa rates. The change ends discriminatory stamping visits needing Marfa. Houston addressed the notice to Sanford & Douglas, Alpine attorneys.
In a district court suit, Jim V. Wilson sought land and lease relief against G. O. Smith. The court said valuation in the Land Office controlled prior records, denying land. it also held the December 1900 cancellation of the Beckenbrow lease void and noted subsequent reinstatement and payments, with the Land Commissioner deeming the lease valid as of March 18, 1904.
