Junior Hi Notes reports Thelma Morgan from Iowa Park joining the 8-B class. In chapel on Tuesday March 12 Mr Hall of Fort Worth spoke to students, who enjoyed the assembly. Friday night the 7-8 room and Miss Peters went on a picnic, climbing the hill south of Alpine for a wonderful time.
Detroit March 12 Chevrolet vice president R H E Grant announced an expected rise in the 1929 production schedule to 1,200,000 units from the original 1,250,000 quota. He cited dealer surveys and mixed market signals but said production will depend on absorption by dealers and capacity. Grants noted favorable hopes across the Northwest farming region, mining districts, and Western markets with prospects of a strong year.
Prof H J Cottle head of biology Sul Ross State Teachers College will give an illustrated lecture on conservation at the public school auditorium Tuesday evening March 19 at o clock. The event is a courtesy to Alpine Women’s clubs with invitation to cooperate. Admission 40 cents for adults 15 cents for children.
W Turton of Niles Michigan has driven the three Fords he owned a total distance equal to nine times around the world without ever running out of fuel oil or water or having an accident. He bought his first Ford touring car in 1926 and drove it 103200 miles before selling it for 125 dollars. A planned big tunnel from the Detroit river to the Rouge plant would divert one billion gallons of water daily into the plant powerhouse.
