Preview of Avenue E conversion plans shown to council
The Alpine City Council received a briefing on converting Avenue E into the west bound lane of U S Highway 90. Plans call for two one way sections, curb and sidewalk work funded by city or property owners, and narrowing or removal of six pecan trees with most elms preserved. Drainage upgrades will divert rainwater away from low areas, and a new Highway 90 entrance at a right angle to the old Marathon road is planned. Budget timing depends on bids and approvals in El Paso and Austin.
