Oldest Traces of Man Found in East Texas County
A UT geologist reported to the Geological Society of America near Minnet and Beeville in South Texas the discovery of fossilized remains of an elephant and five other artifacts dating roughly 25,000 years. He highlighted a 150-pound egg-shaped sandstone face with eye holes and facial features unearthed in East Texas, with a prior identical image found in Henderson County. The finds suggest ancient sculpture far older than 25,000 years, raising questions about early human artistry in the region.
