New Nazarene Pastor Named in Alpine Arrival
Rev. Thomas W. Kelley of Bethany Oklahoma will arrive in Alpine Friday July 29 to take the Nazarene Church pastorate. He recently graduated from Bethany Nazarene College and has worked in evangelism. Mrs. Kelley plans to enroll in Sul Ross State College in September for her senior year in education.

The National Park Service will host a display at the Fourth of July Jubilee at the Brewster County Courthouse. Local organizations signed up include Rotary Club Lions Club FHA Episcopal Women Knights of Columbus American Legion DAR Pilot Club VFW and more. Rescue squad with fire engine rides and ferris wheel may attend. West Texas Utilities to string decorative lights on courthouse sidewalks.

Williamses to Manage Big Bend Dispatching Services

Alpine voters to decide $80,000 sewer bond proposal
Qualified voters in Alpine will vote Saturday June 30 on 60 000 in sewer bonds to fund improvements and extensions. Polls open 8 a m to 8 p m in the Chamber of Commerce building. City officials note low interest rates allow bond issues without raising taxes. Plans include correcting the main line east of Central School and extending coverage to Newtown West Avenues G and H. Lindy Creigh and Clarence Hord Jr share brief local travels.

Sul Ross State College rodeo teams won the National Intercollegiate Championship Rodeo in Denver. Bill James Alpine was All-Around Cowboy of the Finals, Donna Saul Van Horn All-Around Cowgirl. Several riders earned top honors including George Eads Acala first in bull riding and Pete Lewis Dell City second in bull dogging. James won a two week Colorado guest ranch vacation.

Funeral services for H. G. Dutch Gilbert age 49 were held at the Christian Church with burial at Elm Grove Cemetery. Gilbert died of a heart attack in Houston after a 20 year residence as a Falstaff Distributing Co sales rep. He leaves a son Garland and mother Mrs. Ament with brother Gene Gilbert.
