Tess Eaves Jr. Dies After Mine Burn Injuries
Lascian Eaves Jr. 44 longtime superintendent of the Study Butte mine in Terlingua area died here Monday from burns suffered in a gasoline explosion six weeks earlier. He had worked at the mine about three years and is survived by his wife, two sons Robert and Glenn, and daughter Jerry who attends school in Grass Valley California. A Legion member, he enlisted in 1916 and served briefly in the army. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10 a.m. services were by the local Legion chapter and burial followed at Elm Grove cemetery with Livingston Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs W C Easterling, a former Alpine resident tied to local newspaper work including editor of The Avanlache, died Friday morning in Ozona. Attending were Mrs Lillie Phelps and Mrs John Young Sr of Alpine, and Mrs Phelps daughter Mrs Jack O'Brien and Mr O'Brien of Wickett. Easterling was an aunt to Mrs Phelps and cousin to Mrs Young.
