Postpone Date For Starting Work at Observatory Site
Fort Davis June 20 8p. Word has reached here that the conduction of the steel dome of McDonald Observatory on Mount Locke has been delayed and the step will be shipped from Cleveland on or about July 1. It is not known what caused the delay. Construction was to have the frame in May then about June 1. The flame was erected at the place of manufacture and it is supposed not. This revealed the necessity of further work. A pretty thorough test, if ever given, was finally done to the well on Mount Locke drilled for the use of the observatory. At Christmas I was down 820 feet and it was believed not sufficient water had been found. Recently it was drilled two hundred feet deeper and the test resulted in about six gallons per minute. Some believe more can be pumped.
