Another Old Soldier Answers Roll Call
Capt. Wm. W. Townsend, veteran of two wars and Texas pioneer, dies at his Alpine home on May 2x. Born 1835 in Madison County Florida, Townsend served in the U.S. volunteers, joined the Confederacy, led the Whitfield Legion, fought at Shiloh and other battles, and later settled in Alpine. He married Addie Woolsey, then Mary Margaret Phillips, and is buried in Alpine. A separate court note covers a 1916 Brewster county real estate foreclosure by a substitute trustee, with sale set for July 6 at the Brewster County courthouse.

Substitute Trustee J H Derrick announces the sale of the Palmanteer deed of trust property in Alpine Texas on July 6 1915 between 10 am and 4 pm at the courthouse door. The lands include a triangular tract out of Survey No 42 Block 96 H&S AL Ry Co and all of Henderson Addition Block 4 in Alpine. The action arises from a note of 17050 with 10 percent interest, endorsed by C Given who paid the note and taxes for 1914. The sale is to satisfy the note and accrued interest plus taxes.
