Two couples from Marathon wed in a Sunday ceremony led by Rev. Wheeler of the local Methodist church. Alpine-area notes report visitors, travel, concerts, upcoming camp meetings, and local business notes with several names and places including Marfa Langtry Davis Mountains and Pecos county.
A lively Mountaineers Club gathering approved immediate purchase of new paraphernalia including a billiard table. The group welcomed about twenty new members this month and launched a vigorous recruitment drive, aiming to bolster Alpine’s social welfare and club influence.

A planned shower became a fire starting from a cigarette stub in Thompson pasture, burning into Nunn pasture with damage. Dr. and Mrs. G S Locke visited from the ranch, returning home. Mrs. J A Stroud of Brewster County visited relatives and friends. Grace Stewart visited the Prude ranch. Mrs. C A Hutchins recovered from a two week illness. Rev W B Bloys moved into a new residence nearing completion, a town addition.
Brewster County Commissioners Court in Alpine Texas will meet on June 7 1909 as Board of Equalization to inspect correct and approve assessment lists and books.
