Guadalupe Mountains Proposed as National Park Testimony

Hugh S. White of Alpine testified before House and Senate subcommittees in Washington in favor of designating the Guadalupe Mountains area with McKittrick Canyon and Capitan Reef as a National Park. He noted broad support from Congress members and emphasized preservation, recreational value, and economic benefits for four million travelers. The proposal envisions Park Service administration under Interior with strong backing from national opinion and local conservationists.
