July Rain Deepens Alpine Valleys in Record Heat

Alpine records show July rain is the rainiest month, with 1988 bringing over six inches and other years four to five inches. A hot air current from Chicago suggests this moisture may continue, condensing as it hits cooler Alpine air. The note from Rev. Rogers in Lynnville, Tennessee, speaks of distance giving appreciation for home, while Cas Edwards threads a tale of conservation in The Cattleman. The political scene heats as eight days remain before primaries, with discussion of national nominations and the push for states to adopt primaries to avoid convention fights.
