Dr Hoffmann Marfa veterinarian reports only ten dogs and cats inoculated during the return visit. City offices note a total of 38 animals vaccinated since the anti rabies campaign began, far below last year's roughly 100. Officials attribute the drop to absence of a major rabies outbreak and a prior coyote incident. A new enforcement drive will begin to target unvaccinated animals through the year. City ordinance requires pet registration for a $1 fee, and owners are urged to keep animals from roaming.
