Record Snowstorm Delivers Rare Moisture to Big Bend
Snow blanketed the Big Bend Davis Mountains area over six hours last Sunday, bringing moisture to rangelands. Alpine reported four to five inches with 0.68 inches of moisture, the heaviest since January 6 1946. Snow extended north through the Davis Mountains and south toward the Rio Grande, with heavy rains at Nevill Kokernot and Gulihur ranches. Ranchers call it a good start for future moisture, noting benefits for ranges if followed by more rain.
