Twenty Six Years a Sheriff of Bee and Brewster Counties
Capt D A T Walton of Sabinas earned 26 years in Texas sheriff roles, 18 in Bee County and 8 in Brewster County, without wounding a prisoner. His career began in 1855 at 16, fighting Lipan raids with Callahan’s Rangers, later serving through early Confederacy operations. Now in Sebinal, he is courted for a Western District of Texas marshal appointment.
