The animals, mostly in Guadalupe, Delaware, Diablo and Beech mountains northwest of Van Horn, with some in Eagle and Rim country areas, are elusive due to natural camouflage. An example ram, mounted for San Angelo museum, weighed about 200 pounds with horns 33 inches long and 16 3/4 inches in base circumference. No open season exists for these western Trans Pecos sheep.
