Dodson conducts a means test drilling operation reaching 6,610 feet depth. The project targets mineral extraction status and potential resource assessments in the area.
A brief notice lists new vehicle registrations for 1937 including Lincoln sedan, Ford pickup and other models. Names cited include Mrs J C Bird of Alpine and Honest Acton of Alpine.

Granada theatre will screen a three reel short feature The Bombing of the Panay with actual views by newsreel photographer Norman Alley. Ernest Mollison says a complete unedited negative will be shown Tuesday night, including Alley leaving Shanghai with the footage and scenes of the Panay sinking.
The Jeff Davis County term opens January 10 with several persons held on bail for the grand jury action though no criminal cases appear on the docket. Civil matters include several named individuals and cases, with attorney William Granger acting for the plaintiff and J A Wilbon of Valentine also counsel. Sheriff Jim C Walker reports summons served on many named parties as the firm Garnett Mestre Co takes over D G Electric company interests.
A weather report for Alpine notes heavy fog mist rain sleet and sunshine on Wednesday morning. An additional 18 inches of precipitation increased Alpine's three week total to 331 inches. Large snowflakes briefly fell then persisted on nearby mountains for several hours.
Alpine Lions Club held its weekly meeting at Paceday noon to install new officers. Rev. Pranklin R Poage was named president with J B Arledgs as first vice president and George Koury as second vice president among others.
