Grand jury venire called for January term in Alpine

Big Old Texas Distances Charted in Meeting Discussion
A Texas meeting reviewed a wall map with a ruler to estimate distances. From near Brownsville to the Panhandle northwest corner the span is about 900 to 1 000 miles, and from El Paso to the eastern edge near the farthest point it runs about 800 to 900 miles. Two days drive for fast travel each way. The figures illustrate Texas square miles and suggest Texarkana is farther away than Texarkana to another point.

New Auto Licenses Issued by Sheriff Sproul in County
