Editorial urges spraying and orchard vigilance as pests and diseases threaten apples and shade trees in Brewster County. It warns of codling moth damage, fungus infections, and cocoons on various trees, calling for coordinated control, arsenate sprays, and burning of cocoons to protect fruit and livelihoods.
Citywide crisis from the tree tent moth threatens shade and fruit trees this year. Cocoons cover limbs and soon hatch. community action urged. Livingston proposes a citizen drive and Boy Scouts to destroy cocoons, a plan praised as feasible to save trees.

Marble beds, oil prospects, and favorable climate position Brewster as a leading future producer in the Big Bend region.
