American Legion Auxiliary Discusses Patriotism and Projects
Big Bend Unit 79 met February 17 in the Legion Hall with Dr. Lockhart speaking on patriotism and tolerant debate. The group pledged funds for an Alpine Opportunity Workshop and offered a $200 district scholarship for special education teachers. Delegates to Bluebonnet Girls State were considered and a $10 Radio Free Europe pledge approved.

Church Employs Miss Hilbrich as Music Education Director
Willa Dale Hilbrich daughter of Mr. and Mrs Otto Hilbrich has been hired by the First Baptist Church as music and education director and part time secretary. She began duties last Sunday and has been pursuing graduate music study at Baylor University. She is Alpine High School and Sul Ross State College alumna and will enhance church music programs.
