Return Of Big Horns Protect Wild Life At Black Gap
Austin reports progress on water development in the Black Gap management area Brewster County to support deer antelope bear and javelina. The project funds come from Pittman Robertson and the commission with a new set of buildings due by March 15 to enable Refuge Manager Fred Moore and crew on site. The 36384 acre Black Gap area is a key game restoration site and may stock Big Horn sheep with breeding stock from Colorado Arizona and New Mexico arriving as needed. Mountain lion sightings in the area from nearby Mexico add to the wildlife mix as the plan may allow harvesting surplus wildlife from nearby Big Bend National Park where hunting is restricted.
