Alpine Man Invents Kite Camera For Aerial Photos

Alpine resident Parks, originator of a kite driven camera system, demonstrated an autonomous one man operation capable of lifting a 1 4 by 4 1 4 inch camera via a 9 foot kite. The device uses a tripping rod to trigger exposure and reel the camera back as it descends. Parks, formerly in New York on stunt ads, demonstrated to military authorities in Camp Cody during WWI and now markets the invention in New Mexico and beyond.

Essex precision standards outshine high price European autos

Detroit February 11 There is claim by Hudson Motor Car Company chief engineer 8 G Bates that American auto makers measure to tighter tolerances than European high price rivals. He cites crane crankshaft tolerances near 1 1000 inch and other operations near 2 1000 inch. Bates links such precision to strong domestic value and notes experiments with a butterfly messenger and kite to illustrate focus on accuracy.
