Alpine High Wins District Championship

Alpine High School claimed the district championship at the Interscholastic Basketball Tournament No 20 held Feb 8 and 9, defeating Balmorhea Sanderson and Barstow. Sul Ross State Teachers College hosted with Coach B Graves organizing events and three Sul Ross Lobo games vs El Paso School of Mines, all won by Sul Ross.

Rotary notes warn deficit after convention travel costs

John Gentrey reports the Rotary club faces a deficit due to fixed expenses including delegates to the district convention in Las Vegas and the International convention in Toronto. The committee offers two deficit plans, but President Perkins says no extra assessment will be needed. Dr. W W Battle from the State Board of Health spoke on climate, enforcement of food and drug laws, and future work in the region.
