Alpine High Wins District Basketball Championship In Thriller
In the district final, Alpine High School defeats Sanderson 38 to 37 after a 34 34 tie and five minutes of overtime. Alpine’s Lease and Carter starred on offense, while Garnett battled to limit Sanderson’s scoring as both teams displayed high tempo play and resilience. Sanderson had previously beat Marfa 25 to 12, while Alpine ousted Saragosa 59 to 16.

Griffith Home Burned In North Town
The cottage of Mrs. W. L. Griffith on Davis Road was destroyed by fire Monday at noon. Wind aided spread but saved the windmill and water tank. Firefighters quickly fought the blaze from the public school well, with some furniture saved and insurance on both dwelling and contents.
