Mission Study Circles Convene At Baptist Society
The Baptist W M U circles held their regular Mission study program on Tuesday. Circle 1, led by Mrs Johnson and Mrs Wells McIntyre, had six members present. Circle 2 met with Mrs Jean Pugh who presided in place of the ill president. Mrs Fulmer led a review of the first division of Things We Should Know. Refreshments were served to five members and two guests. Circle 3 met at Mrs Sweet’s home with four members and a meeting planned for next Tuesday.

First State Bank of Monahans Chartered by Board Last Week
A charter for the new First State Bank in Monahans was granted by the State Banking Commission. It will operate with 25000 dollars capital and 5000 dollars surplus, with March 1 as the tentative opening date. Jim Tubbs, a local oilman and rancher, is named president as Monahans expands as an oil field town.

Marfa Production Credit Association elects 1997 board
J C Mitchell of Marfa A H Kelly of Acala and David B Combs of Marathon were elected to the Marfa Production Credit Association board at the January 25 annual meeting in Marfa. T Corder secretary treasurer says 1996 loans totaled 978 942 dollars to area farmers and ranchers. The Texas Production Credit system posted over 21 million dollars in loans statewide for the previous year. N M Jones field supervisor also spoke at the meeting.
