First Christmas Lighting Contest Honors Alpine Homes
The first annual Christmas Lighting and Decoration Contest sponsored by the Alpine Jaycees and West Texas Utilities drew 22 entries judged by Fort Stockton Junior Chamber of Commerce representatives. First place went to Mrs. Aileen Crowder of Loop Road Alpine, second to Billy Holland at 1502 N. 7th St, and a tie for third between F M Barler of 514 June St and Jan and Becky Smith at Del Rio and 8th Streets. Special Recognition went to the Catholic School display and Sul Ross Village Apartments. Grand prize was an electrical post lantern with additional prizes including an electric toaster and two electric irons. project chairman Sonny Richardson thanked participants and Brewster County Motors for transport for judges.

Motel Bien Venido Sold To Mr and Mrs Stevens
The McBride family announced the sale of Motel Bien Venido to George and Dallas for Feb 1 1967. The deal includes motel and restaurant with Lee Smith to continue restaurant operations. Stevens plan to live on site and expand to 17 more units. the property joins Friendship Inns of America and honors Mobil credit cards.

Forchheimer Rites Friday
Mrs. Louis Forchheimer a longtime Alpine civic figure died December 28 after a long illness in Brewster County Memorial Hospital. She moved to Alpine in 1922 and co founded Forchheimer's department store. Funeral services are set for 11 a m Friday at the First Presbyterian Church with Rabbi David Jacobson and Rev. Clanton Newbill officiating. She leaves a son Paul a daughter Mrs Bob Halpern four grandchildren and a brother Henry Winkler of Hollywood Florida.

Nor Cal family father dies in Sterling County at 78
Ed Bynnim, 78, father of Mrs. Reg Votaw of Alpine, died Thursday in Sterling County Hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday. He was born in 1888 in Hillsboro and had lived near Sterling City since.
