Word from County Commissioner W. D. Burcham reports he is still weak after spending a cold night exposed on December 3 while hunting near his home with H. G. Watson of Alpine and A. C. Spaulding of Marathon. They searched with lanterns and blankets but faced darkness and rain. Burcham returned home at dawn and began further searches.

For single persons with net income at least 1000 or gross 5000 or more and married couples with net income at least 2000 or gross 5000 or more. Filing period runs January 1 to March 15, 1924 at the Collector of Internal Revenue district where the filer lives. Rates include four percent on net income over personal exemptions and credits for dependents up to 4000, eight percent on the remainder, plus a surtax from one to 59 percent on net incomes over 6000 for 1923.

The simplified Form 1040A covers incomes up to 5 000 and now uses a single sheet for three questions. Form 1040 for business or professional income remains for higher earners. Taxes are due after March 15 1924.
