Scales Brothers Firm History in Alpine Dates Back to 1911
The Alpine business traces to 1911 as the Alpine Kandy Kitchen started by Shirley Scales, later moving into the Masonic building and then to its current site. Otis Scales joined in 1920, formalizing Scales Brothers on June 1, 1945, with a 1947 fire prompting rebuilding and modernization. The firm expanded into radios, appliances, and a jewelry line, including watch and jewelry repair by Roy B. Dempsey, a Horology graduate.
