Alpine Publishing Camps, Incorporated announces Vyani as editor in a note published December 14, 1916. The Alpine Avalanche issue outlines editorial leadership for the Alpine Publishing group in a formal community notice.
Molke Hiler and Alma P Hiler, both of El Paso, were married Tuesday evening at the Methodist parsonage with Rev. J H Messer officiating. The ceremony was very quiet with only a few friends present. The bride, formerly of Alpine, is a niece of Syl Adams of the county. Molke works in a responsible railroad position for the Southern Pacific in El Paso. The couple departed the next day for their new life.
The commissioners court met in special session to approve bonds for county officers. J A Walton was bonded as sheriff and tax collector for 54000 with several sureties. M T Chastain was bonded as county treasurer for 35000 with listed sureties. J W Phelps was bonded as tax assessor for 11000 with named sureties.
W H Lease county and district clerk posts 10000 bond with sureties including J M Worthington D C Bourjl and Francis Rooney. A M Turney county judge bonds 3000 with National Surety Co. and others. J M Slater Jr county attorney bonds 25000 with J J. Occupied Christian Science services noted.
The Southern Commission of Accredited Schools has accepted Alpine High School into full membership, joining the top city school systems. The Alpine State Bank stockholders meet in Alpine Texas on Thursday in 1917 to elect directors and conduct other lawful business. Benj. F. Berkeley, Pres.
Sunday School at 10 a m and sermon at 1 p m at Christian Church. Endeavor at Methodist church 41630 p m and sermon at 7 30 p m. Prayer Wednesday evening 7 30. Special music at evening service. Invitation to attend. Also notices on second hand furniture repairs and battery care. Advertisements include A B Sandifer shop and Edwards Motor Company.
Postmaster Coleman warns Christmas mail volume will be heavy and asks the public to mail early. He says the office may stay open until 10 p.m. on Christmas Day as accommodation, urges wrapping packages well, including sender’s address, and notes insurance is available for a small fee. Blank forms are available at the delivery window to speed service.
The Methodist Church invites all to the Queen Esther Sermon at 7:30 Heaven. Baraca Philathea gathering at Mrs HL Lackey’s home included reports from committees and a fund drive with tea and sandwiches. Attendees included numerous Misses and Messrs including JH Messer, Rev Messer, and Hord family members.
Notice bans all persons from hunting, passing through woods, or entering the Nevill estate lands owned by Mrs. Jas. T. Fagtt in the county. J. W. Griffith, Manager.
Notices posted warn the public to stay off the pastures and prohibit hunting or trespassing. The notice declares initial enforcement and vows to pursue full legal action by W H Terry.
