Marathon News: Calvin Harris Dies in Marathon
Calvin Harris died of heart attack last Wednesday November 27 in Marathon. Born January 28, 1901, he lived in the same room where his casket lay. The service was led by Rev. Frank C. Dutton of Alpine. Friends traveled from out of town to honor him and a large floral array filled the room. Harris served in the last war and was known for his wit. He leaves a sorrowing mother and brother as Marathon extends condolences. Pallbearers included Earl Clark and others. The column also notes church society gatherings, dinners, and local social news, with Thanksgiving observations and a long list of attendees.
