Highland Herefords Win Grand Championship at Chicago Show
Highland Herefords bred in West Texas by W. T. Jones won the grand championship at the International Livestock Show in Chicago. Purchased by Henry Hartman and fed by T. W. Mitchell and Sons, the animals marked the third Hereford grand win in 40 years and also claimed multiple other placings. The third prize cattle were bred by Smith Brothers and sold by W. B. Mitchell to Dave Webel of Illinois.

Simmons University athletics manager announced H-S will travel to El Paso Jan 1 for the Sun Bowl game against New Mexico Aggies. Community Christmas Tree Planned for Mexicans This Year
Plans underway for a community Christmas tree for Mexicans in the city. Patricio Martinez, who has led the effort for two years, announced the project. Last year about 700 packages were given away at the event held in the old Mojave theatre building. Merchants donated funds to enable the tree, and a committee will soon solicit additional help from merchants and citizens to support this year’s effort.

Texas cow market yields tiny pay for 670 lb steer
