Fort Davis Farewell Party Hosts International Guests
Guests from six countries and four states attended a farewell and welcome at Indian Lodge led by Dr. Alan Maxwell. The event honored Mr. and Mrs. Govind Swarup of India departing for Stanford University, with Dr. A. R. Thompson new at the observatory. Attendees included Dr. Willem Van den Bos and family from South Africa, Mrs. Arra Hardin and relatives, and many local residents. A series of readings, lectures, and social gatherings followed, with attendees from Fort Davis, Marfa, Alpine, and beyond.
